Program Overview

Deciding to participate in an internship experience is a critical decision to your overall educational success. Once you have decided to undertake this type of experience there are a few things you need to do to find an internship site and to prepare yourself for this new educational endeavor.

Complete the following steps if you need assistance in finding an internship OR select here if you have already secured an internship site.

Step One: Fill out an Internship Application. Once complete, attach it to an email and send it to the Internship Coordinating Office (ICO).

Step Two: Submit your resume to the ICO. You may visit the Center for Life Calling and Leadership for resume assistance and to access resume software. Resume walk-in hours are Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm-9pm.

Step Three: Complete and submit the Student Expectations form via email. This outlines your responsibilities while involved in an internship experience.

Step Four: Pursue internship leads provided by the ICO as well as those you may know of yourself. The ICO will use your application as a guide when researching possible site matches. We will explore our network of contacts to determine where there might be a good fit and then provide you with the contact information for those sites that align with your interests and educational qualifications. It is then your responsibility to follow up with each of the sites to schedule an interview. You should approach this interview like you would a job interview.

Step Five: Once you have secured an internship site, complete the Student Intern section of the Site Acquisition Form, save it and email it to your intended site supervisor. He or she can then complete and submit the form. You will also need to download and complete a Release Form. Both the Site Acquisition Form and the Release Form must be turned into the ICO prior to your first day at the site.

Please note: The ICO cannot guarantee that you will secure a site for any given semester or that you will participate in exactly the type of internship that you desire. Every effort will be made to provide you with options that align with your interests and qualifications for the preferred semester.
